Page 372 of the Quran covers Surah As-Shu'ara (26:112–136). This section transitions from the final warning and rescue of Prophet Nuh (Noah) to the narrative of Prophet Hud and his confrontation with the wealthy, powerful people of 'Ad who built massive monuments out of pride.

1. Hadiths Related to Verses 112–122: The Judgment of Nuh's People and the Flood

[Nuh] said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do? Their account is only upon my Lord, if you could perceive. And I am not one to drive away the believers. I am not but a clear warner." They said, "If you do not desist, O Nuh, you will surely be of those stoned." He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me. So judge between me and them with decisive judgment and deliver me and those with me of the believers." So We delivered him and those with him in the laden ship. Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones. (Quran, 26:112–122)

The Description of the "Laden Ship" (The Ark)

• The Hadith: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The first cohort to enter Paradise will shine like the full moon... [In a long narrative describing the history of the prophets]... Nuh constructed the Ark from teakwood, and it traveled through waves like mountains."

The Drowning of the Remaining Disbelievers

• The Hadith: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "If Allah wills to send a punishment on a nation, the punishment afflicts everyone who is among them, then they will be resurrected according to their deeds." (Directly addressing the absolute destruction of Nuh's contemporary population as mentioned in verse 120).

2. Hadiths Related to Verses 123–135: Prophet Hud, the People of 'Ad, and Extravagant Buildings

'Ad denied the messengers. When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger... Do you construct on every high place a monument for amusement, and take for yourselves palaces/strongholds that you might remain eternally? And when you strike, you strike as tyrants... And fear He who provided you with that which you know. Provided you with cattle and children, and gardens and springs." (Quran, 26:123–135)

Building Extravagant Structures for Amusement or Pride

The Sunnah heavily censures building massive, unnecessary structures out of pride, amusement, or competition—the exact sin Hud calls out in verses 128–129 ("Do you construct on every high place a monument for amusement...").

• The Hadith: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The Hour will not be established until the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings."

The Destruction of 'Ad by the Wind

While verses 134–135 detail the material blessings 'Ad received before their downfall, the Sunnah details the terrifying nature of the wind that ultimately wiped out their strongholds. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would physically alter his demeanor out of fear whenever a strong storm arrived, remembering what happened to the people of Hud.

• The Hadith: Aisha narrated: "If the wind blew strongly, the Prophet (ﷺ) would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for its good, the good of what is in it, and the good of what it was sent with. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it was sent with.' And when the sky became dark, his face would change color and he would go out and come in, and walk backwards and forwards. When it rained, he felt relieved... I asked him about it and he said: 'O 'Aisha! I am afraid that it may be like what the people of 'Ad said: "Then, when they saw it as a dense cloud approaching their valleys, they said, 'This is a cloud bringing us rain!' [Quran 46:24]"'"

• The Hadith: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Trials will be presented to hearts like a reed mat, woven stick by stick. Any heart that absorbs them will have a black mark dotted on it... until it becomes entirely black and murky like an overturned vessel; it neither recognizes good nor rejects evil, except what agrees with its own desires."
